- Lay out flooring, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are level and compatible
- Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items
- Install structures and fixtures
- Conduct repairs or maintenance
- Build scaffolding and other structures
- Instruct and direct labourers on site
The tools required by a carpenter differ depending on the work they are hired for. However, the essential tools for a carpenter:

To become a carpenter you will need to do an apprenticeship. Combing on-the-job training and structured learning. Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship and Certificate III in Carpentry, you will have gained all the skills and experience required.
